List of Prohibited Items
- Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs (violation will result in severe penalties).
- Live Plants
- Liquor-Filled Candy
- Lottery Tickets
- Pornographic or Obscene Material
- Unlawful or Treasonable Material
- Hazardous Articles (e.g., fireworks, combustible, corrosive, flammable or explosive items and toxic or poisonous substances) will be confiscated and destroyed.
- Switchblade Knives
- Pirated Books or Articles (e.g., cassettes and computer programs) will be confiscated and destroyed.
- Ammunition and Firearms (automatic and heavy military weapons are strictly prohibited) and are subject to lengthy formalities and inspections for entry. You may complete an Import Permit, which is obtainable and issued by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (BATF), that shows proof of ownership. Registration, certificates and licenses are required and vary according to the type of firearm, the immigration status of the owner, the destination and port of entry. If weapon was originally purchased or owned by the Customer in the United States, the proof of sale and date of sale are required.
- Endangered Animal or Plants (e.g. furs, trophies or skins, ivory tusks, tortoise shells, wood carvings, etc.) subject to U.S. Endangered Species Act.
- Liquors, Wines, and Spirits - A separate list containing type, quantity, size, percentage of alcohol and value per bottle is required. Alcohol may be subject to taxes and duties and permits may be required. Import regulations vary from state to state.
